Better financial reconciliation of parking revenues at ParkeerService with Monit Data’s Parking Monitor
For municipalities, the financial reconciliation of parking revenues is an essential but often complex task. Dutch cooperative ParkeerService carries out this task for thirteen affiliated municipalities, using Monit Data’s Parking Monitor – a software solution that largely automates and simplifies the processing of parking data. The result: financial reports can be prepared a month earlier, and municipalities submit 60 percent fewer follow-up questions.
The way motorists handle their parking transactions has changed significantly in recent years. Whereas cash payment terminals used to be the standard, a wide range of payment methods now exists: debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards, mobile apps, and even still cash. These varying payment methods are processed through different devices and payment portals – resulting in fragmented data, formats, and processing times. Until recently, checking whether revenues and transactions matched was therefore a time-consuming and error-prone process.
Data as a foundation for better policies
The financial reconciliation of parking revenues is a crucial component of municipal parking management. Especially at a time when digital payment methods and automated systems are increasingly the norm, the need for reliable and efficient data processing is growing. That is why ParkeerService, a Dutch cooperative providing parking management services for 13 municipalities, partnered with Monit Data to gain better control over the complex data flows in financial reporting. They use the Parking Monitor for this purpose. This software solution from Monit Data automatically collects and links data from various parking and payment systems and converts them into online insights. This creates a reliable audit of the entire chain: from transaction to receipt in the municipal bank account. The Parking Monitor takes into account transaction fees, commissions, and VAT payments. Thanks to Monit Data’s ISAE3402 certification, the integrity of data processing and reporting is assured.

Fewer Questions, More Confidence
The impact of the solution is clearly measurable. Since the introduction of the Parking Monitor, financial reports can be prepared about a month quicker. The information is also more consistent and transparent, giving municipalities greater confidence in the accuracy of the reports. Internal checks and requests for further clarification have decreased: the number of follow-up questions about financial reports has dropped by 60 percent.
External audits have also become more efficient, partly due to the standardised reporting structure and quality assurance of the data. As a result, the auditor’s statement can be issued more quickly. This approach aligns well with the accountability requirements imposed on municipalities.
Another benefit and time-saver of using the Parking Monitor is that data collection occurs automatically via existing system integrations, eliminating the need for tedious and time-consuming manual work.
The use of the Parking Monitor ensures that financial reporting is produced faster and at a higher quality. This enables municipalities to organize their parking management more efficiently and reliably.
This approach aligns with ParkeerService’s vision and ambition to be a central and proactive partner for municipalities in parking matters, achieving more through collaboration. With ParkeerService, municipalities have a fully managed alternative to handling parking management internally – from strategy to execution. What makes ParkeerService unique compared to market parties is that it is a cooperative. Participating municipalities therefore have a say in decision-making. The collaboration also offers advantages in knowledge sharing, experience, and lower costs through joint procurement and collective development.
